History

2008
IAWS acquires a further 32% stake in Hiestand from British investment firm Lion Capital LLP.
2007
Origin Enterprises is spun off to create a focus around the agri-nutrition and ambient food businesses of the group. Twenty-five per cent of Origin is subsequently floated on the IEX and AIM stock markets through an IPO. Trading and sourcing company, Hiestand Services AG, is set up.
2006
IAWS acquires US cookie and muffin maker Otis Spunkmeyer. Hiestand Holding AG acquires 100% stake in the German Fricopan Group.
2005
IAWS acquires French company Groupe Hubert, “L’Ami de la Boulangerie”. IAWS increases its stake in Hiestand AG to 32%.
2004
Hiestand acquire Back & Friends GmbH, making Hiestand Germany's largest supplier of frozen bakery products.
2003
IAWS buys a 22% stake in Swiss based gourmet baker Hiestand AG.
2001
US artisan baker La Brea Bakery is acquired by IAWS. Gerd Suhr Produkt-Systeme, one of Germany’s biggest distributors of frozen products, is acquired by Hiestand.
2000
Hiestand acquires the Swiss-based wholesale bakery Mischke & Moser AG.
1999
UK catering food group, Delice de France, is acquired by IAWS. Swisse Bakers (now Hiestand Malaysia), a wholesale bakery in Malaysia is acquired.
1997
IAWS commences a strategic repositioning into Lifestyle Foods with the acquisition of Cuisine de France in Ireland. A. Hiestand Holding AG is listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange via an IPO.
1988-1997
IAWS pursues a growth strategy through acquisition and consolidation in its core activities achieving compound growth in earnings per share of 11 per cent in the nine years post flotation. Acquisitions include Shamrock Foods (1989), R&H Hall (1990) and United Fish Products (UK) (1994).
1988
IAWS Group plc is spun off from the Irish Agricultural Wholesale Society (IAWS Co-Op) and floated on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges. At this stage the Group is principally engaged in agri-nutrition and ambient food activities.
1967
Alfred Hiestand opens a bakery specialising in the supply of fresh bakery products to the catering trade.
1897
Irish Co-Operative Agricultural Agency Society Ltd. is founded in Dublin, it is later renamed Irish Agricultural Wholesaler Society (IAWS Co-Op).
